WTFWIT: Daily Life of a Bicycle Cop

 I started mulling over the idea when I first saw the profile for the Bicycle Cop on the MonMusu Wiki, and saw the great fanart by Figgot. I wanted to see more of our hapless hero and his interactions with these characters, and was disappointed when there was very, very little. I found that there was some fanfiction, but what I found were pretty much dead, except for the terrific "Spokes of Life" by Ranger9000, which you can read at https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11493149/1/Spokes-of-Life.

However, since what existed either hadn't been updated in a year and a half, or didn't follow what had become the meme, which was what I was more interested in, I decided to write one myself. In the immortal words of George Harrison when he was asked why he funded Life of Brian, "I wanted to see the movie." Moreover, I had the feeling that there might be a few people who also wanted the story of Bicycle Cop and his homestays.

After reading, you'll notice immediately that I took some liberties with Figgot's depiction of the girls Mako and Tara, as well as some of the basic personality traits that were previously established.  Part of it is that I can only work with what I'm given at the time, and even then, those personality traits are just that: basic. It's up to the author to flesh them out in a way that comes naturally and that readers can relate to and sympathize with.

For Mako and Tara, it was a matter of making them a little closer to their animal half's real-world counterparts, as well as an effort to give them a somewhat believable backstory and, in Tara's case, explain how they came to take part in the Interspecies Exchange. After all, if a large-breed arachne is considered too dangerous and unpredictable to be a part of it, how did Tara even get there? Keep in mind that I started the story before Okayado introduced Kino the Matango and began exploring the idea of smuggling the girls into the country, so I didn't entertain that possibility. Plus, with Tara and her sharing traits with tarantulas, not all tarantulas are aggressive; in fact, many breeds are rather docile creatures. I chose the Mexican Red-Knee for her because, not only are they relatively docile, black and red is one of my favorite color schemes :P.

So yeah, that's it for now. I'll post more thoughts about Bike Cop at some point in the future.

PROGRESS REPORT 1

Things are progressing fairly steadily. I've been bouncing back and forth between Chapter 2 of "Charlotte & Me" and Chapter 2 of PHILIA. I've been dealing with some depressive issues, which was starting to show in "Charlotte," so I moved over to 'PHILIA' to get it out of my system, since that one is intended to be a dark story. I suppose that's one of the advantages to writing three different stories in three different genres with three different moods.  I'm at a point where I can take a breather from "Daily Life of a Bicycle Cop." All six girls are now in the Nakamura household. I've got a few ideas of where I'm going to take the story, but right now, I need to concentrate on the other two stories, with 'PHILIA' ultimately taking priority. WTFWIT: Beautiful Sentinels: PHILIA

So, I've mentioned 'Beautiful Sentinels: PHILIA' a couple of times on my FB page, but I've said nothing on what it's about. The short version is that it's a mix of Japanese idols, Magical Girls, and Cthulhu. So here's What the Fuck I Was Thinking: I was sitting and binge watching Smile Pretty Cure (I like the show, don't judge me), and it got me to thinking about how the monsters on the more popular Magical Girl shows are more goofy than threatening. I'm sure that a good deal of other Magical Girl shows have scarier monsters, but that's neither here nor there. I also noticed that the monsters in Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! (again, don't judge me) are also way too goofy looking, although it's clear that their appearance was intentional, given that the show parodies the genre.
