Welcome To My Lair

Greetings folks!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name's K, and I am an amateur writer and musician hailing from the somewhat dingy town of Lewiston, ME, At this time, I primarily write fanfictions in an effort to develop my own writing style for when I start my upcoming project in earnest. I also play guitar, and am forming a band.

Right now, my focus is writing within the universe of Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls. At this time, you can find my writing at https://www.fanfiction.net/~kghidorah. I find any universe in which creatures of myth and legend live among humans in modern society fascinating, and such a universe is fertile ground for story-telling.

It helps that I find the original property absolutely hilarious, and I find the characters very endearing.

"So, why write a blog?" you may ask. I've actually asked myself this question when I started mulling over the idea of doing it. I decided to pull the trigger when it dawned on me that it seems like my stories are starting to develop a small fan-base. At the time of this writing, 75 people have listed my story, "Daily Life of a Bicycle Cop," among their favorites, and I have 92 people following its progress. The other story, "Charlotte & Me," has 26 people following it and 20 people have it listed as one of their favorites, and this is after less than a week at this time. For someone who's relatively new to that scene, it feels pretty significant, and more than a little strange.

Is this arrogant of me to do? I don't think so. It's just that, from what it looks like, I actually have fans of my work. I have people following its progress, with some of them having re-read it many times. For me, that's pretty fucking huge, and it blows my mind. So I figured that, if they are following it, they'll probably want to know where I am with a chapter. Some might even want to know why I've taken the story in a particular direction. To those readers who have been eagerly awaiting progress on the stories, I have a message for you:

"You guys fucking rock, and I thank you."

WTFWIT: Charlotte & Me

I started "Charlotte & Me" when I read the one chapter of "A Bird's Eye View" by BreakawayRepublic. First of all, it's off to a fantastic start, so check it out and follow it. At any rate, it sparked some ideas that just wouldn't go away, so I figured I should just get it all out before I went even more nuts than I already am. One of the guest commenters was happy that I set the story in what has come to be known as "Lovecraft Country." The quick and dirty response is that H.P. PROGRESS REPORT 1

Things are progressing fairly steadily. I've been bouncing back and forth between Chapter 2 of "Charlotte & Me" and Chapter 2 of PHILIA. I've been dealing with some depressive issues, which was starting to show in "Charlotte," so I moved over to 'PHILIA' to get it out of my system, since that one is intended to be a dark story. I suppose that's one of the advantages to writing three different stories in three different genres with three different moods.  I'm at a point where I can take a breather from "Daily Life of a Bicycle Cop." All six girls are now in the Nakamura household. I've got a few ideas of where I'm going to take the story, but right now, I need to concentrate on the other two stories, with 'PHILIA' ultimately taking priority. WTFWIT: Beautiful Sentinels: PHILIA

So, I've mentioned 'Beautiful Sentinels: PHILIA' a couple of times on my FB page, but I've said nothing on what it's about. The short version is that it's a mix of Japanese idols, Magical Girls, and Cthulhu. So here's What the Fuck I Was Thinking: I was sitting and binge watching Smile Pretty Cure (I like the show, don't judge me), and it got me to thinking about how the monsters on the more popular Magical Girl shows are more goofy than threatening. I'm sure that a good deal of other Magical Girl shows have scarier monsters, but that's neither here nor there. I also noticed that the monsters in Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! (again, don't judge me) are also way too goofy looking, although it's clear that their appearance was intentional, given that the show parodies the genre.
